If I Had a Band, I'd Name It...

This was a good topic when I was with those muckheads on Utne.Music Listening... My recommendation: take an Aleve one night and have a notepad by your pillow. You'd be amazed. I'll start, natch.

I don't know if the name has ever been taken by a band...

Re: If I Had a Band, I'd Name It...

I think I recall The Silent One getting on a roll and listing a slew of cool band names somewhere whithin the board. I know I have a list somewhere. In the meantime, I'll list some of the bands I have played in:
  • TSA (The Sarcastic Assholes)
  • Hunger Garden
  • Ghoul Feeding
  • Gut Factory

Well, I would not brag about it, and if I did I would certainly be charging. I need a Groucho Marx smiley for that one.

Re: If I Had a Band, I'd Name It...

I always thought a funny band name would be "TBA" (To Be Announced). I can see it now... people saying "TBA? Wow, that band really gets around!"

Re: If I Had a Band, I'd Name It...

-Presenting...Tim Bierman! - If you have more than a little knowledge of Colin Meloy's pre-Decemberists days, you'll get it.
-Anaphylactic Shock Induced by Naffin, Iotacist, or Nihilarian Exposure - Spells "asinine". Also, if the "N.I.N." initials are used in the sense of Reznor, I'm still being honest (he's a ripoff artist ).
-Lugubrious Dirge
-Eta-14A
-Alle In Einer Reihe - Swans reference
-17 Company Men
-Puppet Show for an Atrocity Exhibition
-The Generic Anchormen
-Certainly Not Longshoremen
-That's An Order!
-Sirvante

Re: If I Had a Band, I'd Name It...

For some reason, I always wanted to start a band called "The Mini-Skirted Roller Skaters". No real explanation for that, but it's always made an awful lot of sense to me.

one of the greatest band names I ever saw was from a local band. They were called, "Tom Foolery and the Shenanigans"
