Creepiness

Just came across this post on one pof the music blogs I frequent:
http://www.saidthegramophone.com/arc...icide_song.php

I have a feeling that if one were to do a proper investigation, the body count would diminish greatly. Here's what the Urban Legends Reference Pages (aka snopes.com) has to say: http://www.snopes.com/music/songs/gloomy.htm

Re: Creepiness

I have been trying to write such as song all of my life. I think the melody is hidden in the anxious moments of my days - seemingly irregular breaths - amplitude and rasping timber over time. The rhythm is beaten into the drudgery of my death throes, constant throughout my dying days. Can you hear them?

The lyrics? Well, they come to me in voices. I would share them now, but I promised not to.

This premise reminds me of Jörg Buttgereit's DER TODESKING.

A Swan Song for the Graceless. Do it. I might follow.

As the page referenced in the initial post no longer provides access to the songs, I offer the following:

Re: Creepiness

On the box of a 4 CD set visible from this chair, Ms Holiday's first name is spelt Billie. Maybe Billy is an acceptable alternative... I don't know...

Billie is correct. The artist names and song titles are being pulled from a remote source. It appears that I have no control over this, therefore there is no reason here for me to proclaim an affinity for unconventional expression. Drat!

Drat, indeed, Dr B! I was hoping that I was giving you an opportunity to proclaim that very thing!

Re: Creepiness

I got hooked for a while on Billie Holiday because of her rendition of Gloomy Sunday. I first heard it when watching the film The Funeral starring Christopher Walken. It was the song in the very effective opening sequence of that film.
